Lindsay Lohan '20/20' Interview Canceled To Avoid Talk Of Car Accident, Sources Say
Lindsay Lohan canceled her upcoming interview with Barbara Walters for "20/20" so that she would not have to talk about her car accident troubles and the legal battles stemming from them, according to TMZ.
Sources told the gossip website that Walters wanted to talk about Lohan's personal life, however, the actress' public relations people from the firm Rogers & Gowan did not think it was a good idea for Lohan to discuss her recent car accident and its ongoing investigation on television.
Originally the interview, which would have aired on Nov. 16, was to focus on the 26-year-old's new biopic about icon Elizabeth Taylor, called "Liz & Dick." However, since Lohan's car troubles, "producers made it clear to Lohan that Barbara wanted to talk about her personal life as well ... including allegations that she lied to police about the June car crash on Pacific Coast Highway," a source close to the actress told the website.
Lohan's PR team then decided to cancel the interview as perhaps a preventative measure, so that Lohan might not say anything that would compromise her court case.
Lohan's new PR team from Rogers & Gowan replace Towards the end of October, Lohan's publicist Steve Honig, who, toward the end of October, to quit working for Lohan after two years of employment, according to The Inquisitr.
After clipping a pedestrian with her car in New York City, Lohan reportedly told police that she was not the one operating the vehicle at the time of the incident. Authorities, however, said they found evidence that she was in fact behind the wheel of the car, according to The Los Angeles Times. The actress is still on probation for theft charges from last year.
ABC News told The Hollywood Reporter that they were "disappointed" that Lohan canceled the interview, but that they wished her well.
"Liz & Dick" premieres Nov. 25 on Lifetime.
