UPDATE: Hamas Rocket Hit Outside Of Jerusalem From Gaza Friday
The Israeli Defense Force confirmed via Twitter Friday that a Hamas rocket launched from Gaza struck outside of Jerusalem, Israel's capital city.
Sirens are wailing through the streets of Jerusalem, where in local time the weekly ceremony of Shabbath has already began for the religious Jews living there. The IDF also posted that "the Iron Dome has intercepted 86 rockets fired from #Gaza into #Israel today."
The Yeshiva World News posted local updates all throughout Friday until they stopped when the Shabbath started. They noted that at least 150 rockets were fired at Israel at time of publication on Friday and those targeting Ashdod were intercepted by the Iron Dome. Israeli news reported 120 rockets were fired into Southern Israel today and sirens have began going off in Beersheva and Tel Aviv.
They also noted that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Israeli President Shimon Peres to brief him on the IDF counter terrorism operations taking place. One of the last posted included the following: "three IDF soldiers were injured moderately in a rocket attack in the Eshkol Regional Council earlier. They were transported to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva and in surgery at this time."
The IDF confirmed the injuries in a Twitter post.
The Israelis have coined the term Operation Pillar of Defense to reflect their efforts in keeping Hamas and militants at a distance, and protecting their borders. News reports stated that additional soldiers have been posted by the Gaza border.
An aerial photograph showed a Hamas missile launch site located in Gaza near a mosque and a children's playground. The photograph provided to KleinOnline by the IDF on Thursday showed exact locations of the missile launch site, which is also in a half block radius to a gas station and close range to two factories.
