Barbara Walters announced the "10 Most Fascinating People of 2012" list on Monday.

ABC announced seven of the ten personalities that landed on the famous journalist and "The View" co-host's list.

The number one most fascinating person of 2012 will be announced on December 12 in the 90-minute special "Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2012," set to air at 9:30 p.m. EST on ABC.

The 10 Most Fascinating People this year include:

- The woman behind the literary phenomenon Fifty Shades of Grey, writer EL James.

- Outspoken New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

- Olympic Gold medalist Gabby Douglas.

- Academy Award-winning actor/director/writer Ben Affleck.

- One of the most famous women in politics, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

- The British boyband sensation One Direction.

- 2013 Oscars host and creator of television cult classic "Family Guy" Seth MacFarlane.

Walters will mark the 20th edition of the show this year, which has consistently been among the highest rated specials of the year, according to ABC.

In 2011, Walters chose Apple's former CEO Steve Jobs as the Most Fascinating Person of the Year. It was the first time the program featured a person that was not alive.
