The New York Knicks (7-1) will open up a three-game road trip when they face off against the New Orleans Hornets (3-5) on Tuesday night.

Just a couple days removed from their first loss of the season to the Memphis Grizzlies via 105-95 margin, the Knicks will look to win their second straight game after overcoming Indiana 88-76 on Sunday. Although New York posted a season-low 36.7 shooting percentage, the team was still successful due to a great defensive effort along with a 26-point performance by Carmelo Anthony.

Mike Woodson's team limited the Pacers to a mere 30 points in the first half and forced 19 turnovers in a game that the Knicks led by as many as 20.

Center Tyson Chandler, who had nine boards in the game, spoke to ESPN about the focus of this year's club compared to its 2011-12 version.owHowever

"Last year we let this game slip away. It's definitely the maturity of the team and obviously the maturity of the players. We got a lot of vets around here that understand that these games add up," he said.

"These are the games at the end of the year when you are in that dog fight and jockeying for position, these are the games that put you over or under," Chandler added.

The Knicks currently rank among the league's elite defensively, only allowing 90.0 ppg while also holding their opposition to 43 percent shooting.

"On the defensive end for us to be in sync the way we are right now, especially this early in the season, that's a good thing. We want to keep building on that," stated Anthony.
