iPhone 5 Black Friday: AT&T Offers $99 Refurbished Apple iPhone 5
The holiday shopping season has officially begun, and Apple's latest smartphone is a sure hit with consumers.
While brand new iPhone 5's aren't seeing any discounts, shoppers can get great deals on refurbished smartphones.
AT&T is now offering a refurbished version of the iPhone 5 starting at $99 with a two year contract.
The 16GB version of the iPhone 5 - in black or white - is now on sale via AT&T's website for $99. The 32GB version will set you back $199.99, while the 64GB is $299.99. That's $100 off what Apple and the carriers are offering for a brand-new smartphone.
The pre-owned phones are covered by a 14-day return policy, though AT&T will charge a $35 restocking fee.
The increased demand for the latest iPhone has led to Apple stepping up production to match the expectations for consumer behavior.
According to PCMag, Apple CEO Tim Cook commented on the supply and demand situation in a statement: "Demand for iPhone 5 has been incredible and we are working hard to get an iPhone 5 into the hands of every customer who wants one as quickly as possible. While we have sold out of our initial supply, stores continue to receive iPhone 5 shipments regularly and customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date. We appreciate everyone's patience and are working hard to build enough iPhone 5s for everyone."
Many smart phone retailers are stocking up on iPhone 5's and online shipping times have dropped to around two weeks.
Apple is holding a one-day only shopping event Friday online with extended hours at ground locations from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., but no luck with iPhone 5 deals.
