O’Brien is a thoroughly despicable human being – that was great to play,” she said.During Finneran’s stint on the program, she’s been in a feud with under-butler Thomas Barrow, and was the main reason for Cora Crawley’s miscarriage.A Downton Abbey spokesperson gave the confirmation that Finneran wouldn’t be used in the fourth season, but it was made clear that the door could be left ajar for a future return.Although it’s still uncertain as to how the Sarah character will be written out of the series, the U.K. site speculates that it may be the perfect opportunity for several characters to get revenge on her.During the Christmas Special, fans were surprised to see the death of Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens), as he was killed in an auto accident.Nonetheless, the rest of the cast have now begun shooting the upcoming season.
