Jussie Smollett has been discharged from the psych ward, his brother confirmed.

Smollett's brother, Jocqui, confirmed earlier this week that the actor entered the psych ward at Cook County jail despite having no risk of harming himself. He then asked everyone to support the actor using the #FreeJussie hashtag to the court would keep him in segregated incarceration due to the impending negative effects of it on his mental and physical state.

Days after the calls started, Jocqui took to Instagram again and thanked the "Empire" actor's fans for supporting them and the #FreeJussie they keep on posting.

"Thank you so much for the support, all the hashtag #FreeJussie, it's working. He's now been moved to a new jail cell out of the psych ward that has a bed. Before he was sleeping on a restrained bed and now he's been moved to a jail cell that actually has a bed. Thank you so much," he said.

Jocqui added that the development came after they continuously applied pressure on Cook County Jail. He then took his time to condemn County Cook and its jail for not doing anything and only moving once they get bad publicity.

In the end, he urged everyone to keep posting with #FreeJussie to keep the pressure intact. For Jocqui and the actor's supporters, Smollett's predicament is "absolutely ridiculous." Amid that, he acknowledged everyone who is helping them to keep his brother strong and focused.

Jussie Smollett's Life in Danger?

Jocqui's update came after their family opened up during the appeals process and told the court to let him out of the jail due to threats.

As quoted by Los Angeles Times, Smollett's legal team claimed that the actor has been facing threats while serving his 150-day sentence. Meanwhile, The Chicago Tribune confirmed the existence of the emergency motion on Monday that aims the court to suspend the actor's jail sentence.

His attorneys said that "there are serious constitutional issues" surrounding the case. Thus, they asked the higher court to dismiss the December 2021 conviction already.

They explained that Smollett's second prosecution did not align with his double-jeopardy rights.

In related news, his co-star Taraji P. Henson also asked the court to release him since the punishment Smollett received "does not fit the crime," even citing Emmett Till's murder. She used the #FreeJussie hashtag as she suggested the court put him on house arrest and probation instead.
