May 31 would be a day to remember for Fallout 4 fans playing the game on Microsoft's Xbox One console, as game developer Bethesda confirmed that mod support would finally be enabled for console players starting Tuesday. This means that fan-created mods, which have been utilized around by PC gamers for years, will finally be shared to those purists who seek to play the game on a dedicated console.

Of course, with mods being supported for the Xbox One, a number of new, fan-created items and quests could be tried out for free. Those who would like to sample the mods created by the Fallout 4 community would simply need to sign up at Bethesda.net and start downloading fan-created content.

Mod support for consoles has been tested previously, with a number of Xbox One players participating in a beta test for the project. Unsurprisingly, the participants of the beta test responded well to the addition of mods to the Xbox One system.

As much as the mod support is pretty awesome, Microsoft and Bethesda have decided to limit the download size to 2GB for each mod data retrieved from the developer's official site. Thus, despite the capability of Xbox One players to access all the mods created by fans through the years, players would only be able to download files that are 2GB and below.

Despite this notable drawback, many players have stated that 2GB would be enough to download many of the top mods available in Bethesda.net, especially those which add new weapons and features to the game.

Also, Microsoft and Bethesda were nice enough to assure players that their original save files for the game would not be affected by installing mods. Once a player installs a mod, the game would automatically split the save file into two, so that there would be a file prior to the mod installation and one after addition of the mod.

Unfortunately, the mod support would be unique for Xbox One players for now. PlayStation 4 players would need to wait a bit more since mod support for the PS4 is set to be released sometime this coming June.

Xbox One Fallout 4 players will surely have a field day starting Tuesday.
