Xbox News And Updates: Free Games With Gold For June Released, Featuring Goat Simulator, The Crew & More [VIDEO]
Next month's lineup for Microsoft's Games With Gold for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 are a mixture of the strange and the awesome, as four new titles are offered for free download to Xbox users. Though May's lineup, composed of titles such as Costume Quest 2 and Peggle were received in a pretty lukewarm manner, this coming month's free games seem to the complete opposite.
Let's look at the free games this June for the Xbox Games With Gold program.
Goat Simulator
We were not kidding when we said that this coming month's free games had a pretty peculiar entry. Goat Simulator, which is normally priced at $9.99, is an open world game where wanton, goat-style destruction is key. Think Tony Hawk Pro Skater from the old days of the PlayStation 1, only much more destructive, and much more goat-y.
The Crew
The Crew, a unique, open-world racing game that is normally priced at $29.99, received polarizing reviews when it was released. Despite the contrasting views of critics, however, the game quickly became a favorite for most racing fans, thanks to a plot that is pretty engaging, albeit a bit cheesy. Plus, with a vehicle upgrade/progression system that has won the hearts of many, this is one racing game that Games With Gold members should not miss.
Super Meat Boy
This game channels the best and the worst of traditional 2D gaming, as gamers attempt to get the titular character to the end of each stage. Requiring quick reflexes and a whole lot of patience, this title, which is normally priced at $14.99, is yet another title that deserves to be checked out. Be warned, though, for some of its levels are just as aggravating and punishing as the most difficult levels of classic, 2D games.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Normally priced at $39.99, XCOM: Enemy Unknown is the biggest title being offered for free in June. The game is a reboot of the classic turn-based juggernaut, featuring immersive gameplay and a pretty intense storyline. What makes this particular title is its sheer scope, requiring gamers to play the role of military commander, financial manager, scientific researcher, and more.
Indeed, with June signifying the third anniversary of the Games With Gold program, it seems like Microsoft is definitely giving Xbox users really good value for money.
