Grand Theft Auto VI might still take a while before it is formally announced by developer Rockstar Games, but it seems like the firm is scheduled to give fans something really notable while the wait for the next flagship title draws on.

In a rather interesting turn of events, a still from what appears to be a location for a Liberty City DLC has been spotted online. What makes the leak interesting is that it actually came from Rockstar itself. Well, sort of.

The image came from the online portfolio of Adrian Page, an artist who currently works at Rockstar. Though the image has already been removed from Page's site as of writing, it has nonetheless fueled speculation that a Liberty City DLC featuring GTA V's RAGE engine is currently being developed.

The concept of a Liberty City DLC has been going around for some time, with no less than former Rockstar president Leslie Benzies stating that the gaming firm is looking into bringing the franchise's most iconic locations in a unified world, so that players of the game would be able to revisit areas from games that they have fallen in love with over the years.

"Of course, at some point, we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas," he said.

Thus, with the Liberty City DLC getting Rockstar's blessing, it would not be surprising at all if the add-on does get announced soon. After all, Liberty City, which was featured prominently in Grand Theft Auto IV, remains as one of the game's most iconic locations. With GTA V's graphics, Liberty City would be even more beautiful and intricate than ever before.

Quite unsurprisingly, Rockstar has been silent about the validity of the leaked image. As of writing, Rockstar's most recent official announcement was centered on the upcoming release for Further Adventures in Finance and Felony, an update which is shaping up to be yet another massive hit in the GTA Online community.
