There's been a desperate search for a long time to find the diary pages which would exonerate him for Constance's death and get him out of prison, and now, the needed missing evidence may finally be found and Adam (Justin Hartley) could see freedom in his future on The Young and the Restless.

Kevin (Greg Rikaart) saw the surveillance footage which hinted that Bethany (Chrishell Stause) had worked with Victor (Eric Braden) to frame his son, and not only were her fingerprints found on the locker and she was seen retrieving a backpack full of cash, but Dylan (Steve Burton) and Paul (Doug Davidson) are now searching her motel room for more clues and evidence. It will be then that Dylan sees the light switch plate is loose and when he digs around and manages to pull out some papers that were hidden behind it, both he and Paul will be stunned when they realize what they are.

"You've got to be kidding me," Paul says in a preview clip for the Thursday, August 18 episode.

Now, with evidence that Adam didn't kill Constance, they'll be able to finallt set him free, although they are unaware that their investigation is still far from over, as Bethany was just a patsy for the real person who helped Victor-Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson).

However, the evidence may have come too late, as a distressed Adam has slowly been losing his sanity in prison, especially as he continues refusing to eat. He has constnatly been having visions that security guards are Victor taunting him, and he keeps having dreams and other hallucinations that Chelsea (Melissa Clare Egan) moved on from him and their son, Connor, hated him. Now, when a guard goes to tell him Chelsea is visiting (she stopped by to let him know the good news about his being freed), a less than lucid Adam will snap when he believes the guard to be Victor, and he will begin beating the man and threatening to kill him. Now, he may have wound up sealing his fate and though it won't be for the crime he was originally locked up for, he could find himself still staying in prison for something else.

The Young and the Restless airs Monday-Friday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
