'General Hospital' Cast News: Tyler Christopher & Bryan Craig BOTH Exiting, What Will Happen To Nikolas & Morgan? [VIDEO]
Fans are in for a double shock on General Hospital, as two fan favorite characters are both slated to exit the series after their portrayers, who both won Daytime Emmys for the roles earlier this year, have decided not to return to the soap.
After a long back and forth battle over his contract renewal, which seemed to have been settled with plans for him to return as Nikolas Cassadine this month, Tyler Christopher has confirmed he won't be coming back to the soap after all, and he and the show were unable to come to terms with a deal. Christopher reportedly cleared out his dressing room earlier this month, and is officially not coming back to the role he originated 20 years ago.
Christopher first exited the canvas in June over the issues, and was temporarily replaced by Nick Stabile to finish other material that had been written for the character. He was taken off the canvas on July 19 when the character was presumed missing after a gunshot wound and fall through a window in Greece. NIkolas has been presumed dead ever since.
Christopher addressed his leave from the show on Twitter last night, thanking his fans for all of the love and assuring them he would miss them.
Reps confirmed he would not return, but did not say if the character would stay off the canvas for good, or if Stabile would be hired back to permanently fill the role, or if another actor would be hired on.
Meanwhile, news has also broken that Bryan Craig, who portrays Morgan Corinthos, has also made plans to exit the show, after winning his first Emmy for his front-burner storylines involving his character suffering from bipolar disorder.
According to reports, Craig asked to be let out of his contract early, even though it was good through next Spring.
It's unclear why he asked to be let out of the show early, or when he will last appear on screen. There are also no immediate plans to recast his character either, and Craig seemed to address the drama on social media by commenting on the commotion he was seeing.
