Xbox One October 2016 Update: Microsoft add Xbox Arena feature, platform to be launched this week
For the first time, Microsoft is bringing the e-sports tournament at home with the Xbox Arena. Arena is the first streamlined console based tournament platform. It is considered to be an improvement over the traditional way of joining online contests.
According to Mashable, the Xbox Arena will give the console an edge over Sony when it comes to the completion realm. This time, players won't need to use a website like MLG to join online competitions in order to register before going through gaming forums and finding teammates.
In addition, the Arena will also allow casual and hardcore gamers to join daily tournaments across the Xbox One. It can also enable players to join tournaments in the Xbox App on a Windows 10 laptop or computer. The first partner will be EA which is a good time for players who play FIFA and Battlefield.
However, University Herald reported that the official release of the Arena feature will only be accessible to Preview members through practice tournaments in the US. The good news is Microsoft is still planning to add more features later this month which will diversify and broaden the audience.
The Arena feature will be introduced in Killer Instinct. As of writing there are still no news as to when it will be available for all Xbox users.
Microsoft will also launch a new Achievement Rarity feature his month. The new feature is said to make a big impact on group play and messaging.
To those players who have unlocked a rare Achievement will now be sparked off with a new animation and notification sound. There will also be a new diamond icon. A useful Group feature was also added which makes it possible for gamers to organize their gaming session up to a week in advance.
The Group messaging feature has been changed. It gives the gamers an opportunity to add people to the group and nip the conversation topic.
