Hurricane Matthew News: Tropical Storm Nicole already a hurricane, might push Hurricane Matthew back to Florida
Tropical Storm Nicole was first spotted forming in the Atlantic, just northwest of the powerful Hurricane Matthew earlier this week. It seems like the storm is intensifying and it will soon be called Hurricane Nicole.
According to Express UK, Hurricane Nicole has grown more powerful containing winds with speed of 100 miles per hour. In the latest update provided by the National Hurricane Center, Nicole is now a category 2 hurricane. In order to be classified as such, the cyclone must have sustained winds of at least 96 miles per hour.
Although Nicole is not a threat to the country as of the moment, there is a possibility that it will collide with Hurricane Matthew. According to Business Insider, Hurricane Nicole is hot on Hurricane Matthew's heels in the Atlantic. It is said to be interfering with the larger storm's path.
It was reported that there are predictions that Hurricane Nicole might push Hurricane Mathew back towards Florida and Bermuda. The good news is Hurricane Matthew will most likely be much weaker when this happens.
It is also a good think that Hurricane Nicole is smaller compared to Hurricane Matthew. It is currently located 340 miles south of Bermuda. It has started to move southwards now after moving north for the past few days.
The NHC said that Hurricane Nicole will affect Bermuda for the next few days. It is more likely to weaken by Friday. It is also not expected to hit land as there is also a possibility that it will be absorbed by Hurricane Matthew at some point. It is also possible that they could stay separate and rotate around each other instead.
Met Office tropical prediction scientist Julian Heming explained that the interaction between Hurricane Nicole and Hurricane Matthew will only be short term. However, he also warned that the hurricanes could interact within a few days.
