Pokemon GO has announced a new incentive to play the game during the Halloween season.

Pokemon GO trainers will be able to catch some of the spookier Pokemon more often for a select time only. Trainers will also get double the Candy during this time period.

"From October 26th to November 1st, you'll earn double the amount of Candy every time you catch, hatch and transfer Pokémon! Don't forget your Buddy Pokémon, because they will help you earn Candy four times as fast," says the Pokemon GO site.

"If you encounter more spooky Pokémon than normal, don't be startled, they want to enjoy the fun too!" the site continues. "Scare up some friends, grab your buddy and enjoy this spooky, fun celebration with us!"

Some of these "more spooky Pokemon" include Ghastly, Haunter, Gengar, Drowzee, Hypno, Zubat and Golbat.

Interest in Pokemon GO has certainly waned over the past few months compared to its pop cultural takeover during the summer. It remains to be seen if this move by Niantic and company will result in more gameplay during the next week or if the general public has moved on.

Regardless, Pokemon GO remains a hit all over the world, with a Newzoo report stating that the game is still making $2 million per day, according to Game Franchise Consumer Insights. This isn't exactly the #16 million per day of its peak, but it's no slouch either.

"'Pokémon GO' has opened our eyes in many ways. It has refreshed the top grossing mobile game ranking that has been dominated by a small number of publishers and games for a long time," Newzoo CEO Peter Warman said in a statement. "It has proven beyond a doubt that AR can be applied in ways that appeal to a mass audience. Equally important from a business perspective, it has given Niantic investor Google enormous insight and data that it can incorporate into its location-based advertising and services strategy. The fact that 'Pokémon GO' has motivated kids and youngsters to spend more time outside is an additional bonus, even if that means they take their screens with them."
