‘Sherlock’ Season 4: The British Series’ New Season Premieres in 2017 [VIDEO]
The much anticipated "Sherlock" season 4 is coming to the small screen at last. PBS reveals the season premiere date, almost three years after the last episode of the third installment aired.
It will be a happy new year for the loyal fans of "Sherlock." The PBS series' season 4 premiere has just been confirmed and the network decided to air it on Jan. 01, 2017, literally the new year.
It is not exactly a surprise that the network is gunning for the first day of 2017 to air season 4, episode 1 of the detective show based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's novels. As stated by E! News, "The Abominable Bride," a "Sherlock" TV special, premiered on the same day this year. In addition, two other seasons of the series also first aired on New Year day.
The long wait for fans of the detective series is finally over. Steven Moffat, the creator of the British show said, "Sherlock series four - here we go again! Whatever else we do, wherever we all go, all roads lead back to Baker Street, and it always feels like coming home."
Moffat also hinted on what will happen in the latest installment. According to him, Sherlock Holmes and John Watson will have to face the ghosts from their past, just as they always have to endure every season. This time around, the said theme will reach its climax, making for an even more exciting season compared to the first three ones. Does this mean that season 4 will be the last fans will see the duo?
The showrunner is vague on his answer to the question. Moffat said that the production is not sure how much longer they can sustain the story but he is prepared to do more episodes. On the other hand, he also mentioned that this upcoming season could really be the last one.
