The next edition of Guillermo del Toro's previous film which depicted humans driving giant robots to combat interdimensional evils and monsters and which was released in 2013, has been started to role. According to reports, the production of this upcoming blockbuster has been going on in Sydney, Australia. The filming for the same is currently ongoing.

According to Coming Soon, John Boyega, who has been well known for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has recently posted some updates alongside some pictures that have confirmed the cameras are officially rolling for the making of this film. He has further made it clear that this version will be named as Pacific Rim: Maelstrom. As per the report, Boyega will be seen as the son of Stacker Pentecost (the Idris Elba role in the original film). Other casts of the film include Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny, Jing Tian and Levi Meaden.

According to Entertainment, the news of the ongoing shooting came to daylight after the director of this sequel Steven DeKnight posted a photo of a clapperboard along with the subtitle of this film, He also added the caption with this post "Day 1 of shooting. The adventure begins... #PacificRim2." Whereas Boyega posted another photo of his personalized script on Instagram addressing the upcoming entertainer as "a great adventure ahead."

While the first and the original edition of this flagship was a bumper hit and achieved much appreciation among the movie lovers and the critics all over, The sequel is also expected to be another superhit in this line up. Just after the revelation of this insight, the upcoming thriller has already generated ample amount of buzz among the entertainment fans. "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom" is scheduled to hit the big screens on February 23, 2018. The trailer is speculated to be revealed by the second half of the next year.
