Square Enix' massively multiplayer online role-playing (MMORPG) video game, Final Fantasy 14, is set to receive a brand new patch, patch 3.5. It will be one of the biggest update the game has ever received. The update itself is so big that Square Enix has chosen to give it its own name, The Far Edge of Fate.

To reveal just how expansive the new patch is, Square Enix has released an almost 10-minute long trailer outlining the different additions and features that will be coming with the update. The update will contain some brand new content in the form of new areas, gear, items, and several quality of life upgrades.

The official description from Square Enix, via WWG, reveals that players will soon be able to visit several new areas including the Baelsar Wall, the structure that separates the three city-states of Eorzea and the Garlean Empire. Players will also get the chance to return to Sohm Al where they will be able to fully explore the Holy Ground of Dragons.

Aside from the new areas, several storylines will also be continued. This will include a new chapter for the Shadow of Mhach storyline. The new chapter adds a new alliance raid and a new primal boss fight against the final member of the Warring Triad, Zurvan.

Some of the new features that will be introduced with the update includes a new Party Finder system that will let players join parties with other players from the same sever. There will also be several changes that will be coming to the Frontline and Duel PvP modes in the game.

The Far Edge of Fate update is scheduled to be released next week, on Jan. 17, for Microsoft Windows. Players may also opt to pre-order the game's latest expansion pack, Stormblood, which will be released a week after The Far Edge of Fate.
