'T2: Trainspotting' Premiere Sees Original Ensemble Cast Reunited In Edinburgh [VIDEO]
A few lucky fans and celebrities were recently able to see the premiere of the highly awaited new sequel movie, T2: Trainspotting, which was screened in Edinburgh just last night. The event was also graced by the ensemble cast that starred in original 1996 cult-classic movie, Trainspotting. Ewan McGregor.
MgGregor plays the role of Mark Renton, reunited with his original cast mates as they walked the red, or orange, carpet during the sequel's premiere event. He attended the show wearing a cool ensemble comprised of a casual T-shirt and jeans coupled with a jacket and hat, as per a report from Mirror.
Moreover, he was joined by his other co-stars, Johnny Lee Miller, a.k.a. Sick Boy, Ewan Bremmer, a.k.a. Spud, and Kelly Maconald, who plays the role of Mcgregor's love interest in the movie, Diane. The movie's director, Danny Boyle, was also present during the event donning a sharp black suit and white shirt.
There has of course been a lot of anticipation for the film since it was announced back in 2009. Fans of the original movie are also looking forward to seeing what has become of the original characters of the film, as the movie has been revealed to be set 20 years after the events of Trainspotting.
The recently released teaser trailer revealed much of the storyline of the sequel, which involves Renton's return to Scotland after having been gone for two decades. The trailer reveals that the group will likely be back doing what they do best as they tear up the town with violence, drug use, and nudity according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Renton is also shown reuniting with his former flame, Diane, while at the same time trying to avoid meeting Begbie, played by Robert Carlyle. Begbie, has apparently just been released from prison, and he most certainly will want to exact his revenge on Renton, who ran away with all their money at the end of the original film.
T2: Trainspotting is scheduled to be released in the United Kingdom on Jan. 27, followed by a worldwide release shortly after.
