Non-fiction biographical feature films rarely get much attention in Hollywood, but the upcoming adventure film by James Gray called "The Lost City of Z" looks to be the exception. The film is based on the 2009 book of the same name written by David Grann, which follows the real events in the life of British explorer Percy Fawcett.

Ahead of its planned April release, some new images have emerged, via Cosmic Book News, showing Charlie Hunnam and Robert Pattinson in their respective roles. Hunnam will be playing the lead role of Percy Fawcett, while Pattinson plays his aide-de-camp, Corporal Henry Costin.

Both actors will be joined by other big name actors and actresses including Sienna Miller as Percy's wife Nina and Tom Holland as his son Jack. Other cast members include Angus Macfadyen, Clive Francis, Ian McDiarmid, Edward Ashley, and Franco Nero.

The upcoming "The Lost City of Z" movie follows the story of Fawcett and his journey into the Amazon forest at the turn of the 20th century to prove the existence of a lost advanced civilization in the region. Despite the ridicule he receives from the scientific community, the intrepid explorer sets out on an adventure, together with his family, to prove finally prove to the world that the lost city does exist.

Those who are already familiar with the gripping story about Fawcett's obsession will likely be seeing the story in an entirely different light with the help of James Gray's unique filmmaking style. Fawcett's story has of course inspired a generation of explorers even after his mysterious disappearance in 1925. His description of the many new worlds he discovered during his travels had even inspired the infamous author, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, to write his 1912 book, "The Lost World."

"The Lost City of Z" had its special premiere at the closing night of the New York Film Festival late last year. The movie is scheduled to be released worldwide on April 21.
