‘Overwatch’ News & Update: Blizzard Teases New Hero; Doomfist New Hero Theory Wrong After All
Many have believed that Doomfist was the next hero Blizzard would release for "Overwatch" this month, but it seems that fans of the FPS game were wrong for theorizing it. Blizzard announced today that the new hero for the game title is indeed a child-genius joining the game's roster.
In a report by Express UK, "Overwatch" official Twitter account shows the new hero that will be soon added to the game's universe. The post also includes a link elaborating the hero's story, background on AI robotics and more.
The character for "Overwatch" is Efi Oladele who is a winner of the Adewe Foundation's genius grant for the character's achievement in AI and robotics. "The foundation is the center of scientific discovery and exploration, Numbani has a brilliant new mind to add to its ranks" the message reads.
The post also includes a written description of the "Overwatch" character that focuses on Efi's achievements in Robotics and artificial intelligence at the age of 11. There's a full mock interview attached to the post, including the hero's reference to building drones and robots.
After months of assuming that Doomfist will be the next hero for "Overwatch", Game director Jeff Kaplan has already spilled that beans on the official game forum online that the 24th is not fans think it is. Following the reveal, the next update for the FPS game will be a hero, but as for now, it is too early to give details of its release date as IGN reports.
Kaplan stated on the "Overwatch" forum that Blizzard is currently making multiple heroes are being worked right now. Blizzard truly believes that the next thing the developers will offer to the game is a new hero.
It is clearly indicated that Doomfist will not be the next "Overwatch" hero as fans had expected. Over the past months, it is reported that Doomfist would be voiced by "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" actor Terry Crews.
