After years of being in development limbo and multiple castings, Michael Mann's new "Ferrari" movie finally has some new traction. Reports have now confirmed that Hugh Jackman and Noomi Rapace are now in talks to play the leading roles in the upcoming movie.

According to a report from Coming Soon, Jackman will be playing the role of Enzo Ferrari himself, while Rapace will be playing beside him as his estranged wife Linda. Ferrari is of course well known for the car brand bearing his name, which has managed to capture the essence of Italian design and unyielding innovation. The same report also reveals that part of the script for the upcoming movie will revolve around Ferrari's fiery relationship with his wife.

Hugh Jackman's most recent movie, "Logan," which is also his last appearance as the iconic Wolverine, was a tremendous success at the box office. The final "Wolverine" movie managed to gross more than $250 million in worldwide sales in its first week alone. Noomi Rapace, on the other hand, is no slouch either as she has received numerous awards for her performance, most notably in her role in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo."

Before Jackman's involvement in the upcoming film, Christian Bale was rumored to have been picked for the role. It is not yet clear why Bale had decided to exit the project, but a report from Deadline has claimed that Bale may have an issue with the weight gain that was required for the role.

The "Ferrari" movie will be set in 1957 and will chronicle the rollercoaster ride that is Enzo Ferrari's life. The movie will likely include the Ferrari's battle with Maserati for supremacy both in the track and in the automotive marketplace. There is currently no set release date for the movie, but it is expected to premiere sometime in 2018.
