'It' Trailer Drops, Fans Compare Remake & Original; Here's What We Know
"It" is one of the most anticipated films this year. Now that the remake is officially on its way, fans are bound to compare both films dedicated to the Stephen King horror novel.
According to Variety, the newest trailer of the 2017 "It" showed quite a handful in terms of similarities to the original particularly the opening sequence, holding records on its first day of being published. One of the most memorable, and iconic parts is that of Georgie's death, care of Pennywise the Clown, the film's antagonist. While there may be notable changes within the flick, most of the context are still considerably accurate to its predecessor. Prior to the first encounter with Pennywise, it can be seen that Georgie (Jackson Robert Scott) was browsing briskly along a rainy sidewalk until he inadvertently hits a barricade, slightly falling behind his paper boat.
In the original 1990 miniseries, Georgie avoided the barricade but continued to follow his paper boat until a strong current flushed it into a sewer drain. This is where Georgie sees Pennywise (Bill Skarsgard), and meets his untimely demise. Other than that, one of the notable changes is when the Losers Club browses through a book in the classic, in which Pennywise then magically makes his presence felt. This scene, in the new 2017 rendition, shows a projector going out of control with the clown figure slowly starting to form from a series of old photos playing. This scared many "It" fans alike, and although it did not show the clown completely, as per IGN, it was enough to imply the menacing wrath of Pennywise.
The biggest comparison made for "It" is that of the design made for Pennywise. Some fans admired how the original was somewhat less creepy, compared to the naturally grim outfit of the 2017 film. Nonetheless, both renditions depict how Pennywise is only an embodiment of everyone's fear, regardless of their age.
"It" is slated to release on September 8, 2017. The novel was written by author Stephen King, showcasing the town of Derry, Maine being terrorized by what looks to be a bloodthirsty clown. Stay posted for more news and updates.
