The current awards season cycle winds down with the Oscars. However, there are still awards that entertainment companies want to give away.

Tiffany Haddish Rules MTV

Television network MTV recently announced that it would be handing rising comedian Tiffany Haddish the keys to host the 2018 MTV Movie and TV Awards. According to Variety, the show is set to air on June 18.

Haddish took to Instagram to share the good news with her 1.8 million followers.

"I'm going to be hosting the MTV Movie and TV Awards. June 18. Check it out Monday night. It's going to be off the chain. Because you know why? I am going to be hosting! You know what that means, it's going to be hilarious," said Haddish in her post.

When Tiffany Meets Oprah

Haddish's announcement follows after The Ellen DeGeneres Show aired her electrifying appearance on Thursday, Feb. 22.

The Girls Trip actress received the biggest surprise of her life from fellow comedienne Ellen DeGeneres. The talk show host introduced Haddish to one of her biggest inspirations, entertainment icon (and next-door neighbor) Oprah Winfrey.

Viewers saw how Winfrey's appearance deeply affected Haddish as she tried to hold it together when she hugged her idol. According to People Magazine, before Winfrey made her surprise appearance, Haddish revealed to DeGeneres and her studio audience that she met the entertainment mogul while she was an extra on the set of her film Their Eyes Were Watching God.

Haddish also taught both Oprah and Ellen how to create her famous "joyful greens" dish. The "joyful greens" side was used when Haddish cooked for Taylor Swift.

The Rise of Haddish

In addition to meeting her idol and hosting the MTV Movie and TV Awards, Haddish continues to shine as a performer. She will voice and co-executive produce the Netflix animated series Tuca and Bertie. The series will focus on the two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment complex.

Haddish is also expected to star in Uncle Drew, a sports comedy film featuring NBA star Kyrie Irving.

Uncle Drew is expected to follow the misadventures of Dax (Lil Rey Howery) who spent all of his life savings entering a celebrated basketball tournament in Harlem. Dax convinces Uncle Drew (Irving) to reunite his old team of basketball veterans (Shaquille O'Neal, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller, and Nate Robinson). The film is expected to hit the theaters on June 29.

Haddish also made her first appearance in Groupon's Super Bowl commercial. As the company's official celebrity spokesperson, she shared her love of the product and told audiences that she introduced the app to her Girls Trip co-star Jada Pinkett Smith.
