Joanna Gaines Says Fifth Pregnancy Feels Like Her First As She And Chip Say Goodbye To 'Fixer Upper'
It may be the fifth pregnancy for HGTV’s Fixer Upper star Joanna Gaines but she said it feels like her first. Gaines has opened up about her pregnancy as her family said goodbye to the hit show.
Joanna's Getting Used To Being Pregnant Again
Gaines said that this is her first pregnancy in eight years, after she and her husband, Chip Gaines, welcomed their daughter Emmie Kay.
“I joke with my friends that it feels like it’s my first time pregnant,” said Joanna in an open letter to fans.
She said that one thing that stands out about this pregnancy is the love their four children have shown for their unborn baby brother. She added that her and Chip’s children were born so close in age, this is their first time being old enough to experience and remember Joanna’s pregnancy.
Joanna and Chip are parents to two sons, Drake, 12, and Duke, 9, and two daughters, Ella, 11, and Emmie Kay, 7.
How The Gaines Family Is Adapting
The family will certainly be able to enjoy the child when he arrives as they just wrapped the final episode of the popular HGTV show.
“They love my growing belly (and it’s a boy growing), and they cannot wait to meet him. I truly believe this baby is a gift from God for our family in this season.”
The final episode aired Tuesday night, April 3, after five successful seasons. Joanna and Chip announced in September that they would be taking their final bow on the series.
Joanna added that she never expected to be toting a baby bump during the last episodes of the series. She said they decided to close out the show for good to focus on their family.
“Like the entire Fixer Upper opportunity as a whole, life has a way of surprising us,” said Joanna. “With our little ones getting bigger, we had this gut feeling that it was time to step back and focus on them and our businesses here in Waco, Texas.”
Will His Name Start With A 'D'?
Gaines said that now that they are expecting, it is a better time than ever to close that chapter of their lives.
While the couple has revealed they are expecting a baby boy, his name has not been revealed yet. Chip suggested that they might continue the tradition and have his name start with D, like the other sons in the family. Still, he hinted on Twitter that he was having a difficult time thinking of one last month.
