Miley Cyrus' Parents Divorce: Proof That Tish, Billy Ray's Marriage Was Doomed
Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus' parents, are allegedly divorcing after 30 years of marriage.
According to TMZ, Tish filed the paperwork in Tennessee last week, and since their children, Brandi, Trace, Miley, Braison, and Noah, are all of legal age, there is no need for a court to determine custody of any younger children.
Noah Cyrus, the youngest, is 22 years old.
Tish said in divorce documents acquired by the site that the pair has not lived together for two years.
Their divorce is based on "irreconcilable differences," and the mother of five is asking the court to divide all of their marital assets equally.
Despite the fact that they have not lived together in the previous two years, it seems that fans realized something was wrong with their marriage.
They noticed that the country singer wasn't with his family for the holidays in the photographs and videos Miley posted, so many speculated that there were problems in their marriage.
Tish tagged all of her children in one holiday picture she shared on social media, but she never included her husband. Even the children shared the picture without mentioning Billy Ray.
In fact, the last time Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus were seen together in public was in 2020.
In 1993, the couple married in their living room in Franklin, Tennessee. It even led to the "Wrecking Ball" singer marrying Liam Hemsworth in the same location in 2018, but they separated in January 2020.
This was not the first time Tish and Billy Ray had filed for divorce.
Billy Ray Cyrus filed the papers in 2010, but they reconciled six months later.
According to records acquired by TMZ, Billy Ray filed further court paperwork to formally end his divorce from his wife, as they are "attempting a reconciliation."
He also broke the news on "The View," stating he wanted to re-unite his family.
Tish Cyrus filed for divorce two years later, in 2013, alleging irreconcilable differences. Both filed papers at the time, with Tish filing in Los Angeles and Billy Ray submitting in Tennessee.
In a statement to the press, Billy Ray said at the time, "This is a personal situation, and we are doing what is best for our family." We respectfully request that you respect our privacy at this time."
