Queen Elizabeth's Decision: Is THIS Proof Prince Andrew Is Her Majesty's Favorite Son?
Prince Andrew is anticipated to return to public life in the coming weeks. In June, he will go to the United Kingdom with his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and other senior royals.
Today, the disgraced Duke of York was seen grinning behind the wheel of his automobile. His name will also appear in the next day's Court Circular, and he will attend ceremonies as a Royal Knight.
The event, which will take place at Windsor, is a highlight of the royal family's summer itinerary. It will happen again next month, for the first time in three years.
After being sued by Virginia Giuffre, Prince Andrew resolved his sex assault lawsuit with a multi-million dollar compensation four months ago.
According to reports, he settled for $14 million, while he denies any wrongdoing in his acts.
Instead, while the deal avoided a judicial fight in New York, it did not preserve his reputation - however, his mother is apparently keen to "rehabilitate her son's image," according to a royal writer.
Daniela Elser called Queen Elizabeth II's attempts to "resurrect Prince Andrew's reputation."
"While the Palace appears to be trying to spin that Andrew will only be taking part in the Garter ceremony in a private role as a Royal Knight," she wrote for the Australian (via NZ Herald), "that is nothing short of risible."
The author went on to remark that "Garter Day is the embodiment of monarchical magnificence and pomp, and trying to sell his participation as 'private' would be like trying to explain that Buckingham Palace is little more than a fixer-upper."
In January, while confidential discussions were taking place, Prince Andrew was deprived of his military titles.
As part of his plea bargain, he agreed to "show contrition for his relationship" with the disgraced financier by donating to the "battle against the horrors of sex trafficking and its victims."
Elser was also irritated by the monarch's decision to select a new Colonel of the Grenadier Guards after her disgraced son was compelled to relinquish the position as part of his long-overdue title revocation.
"The reason for Her Majesty's reluctance?" she wrote. Her son's delicate ego."
The job was supposedly scheduled to be filled by Kate Middleton, but it has been kept vacant to save Prince Andrew further embarrassment.
Another royal editor for the Sunday Times, Roya Nikkhah, stated that a new royal colonel will be named before to the Trooping of the Colors because Her Majesty is "delaying the appointment to avoid a knife to the heart' for her second son."
Elser concluded her post by querying whether the Queen is truly out of touch because "a guy accused [and who has settled a lawsuit] of sexual assault is being permitted to have a good time!"
