The world of NFL is still mourning the death of Jaylon Ferguson almost two weeks ago. Today, a medical examiner has finally revealed the actual cause of his passing.

According to Us Weekly Magazine, a spokesperson for Baltimore Medical Examiner said the linebacker died after the "combined effects of fentanyl and cocaine."

The Baltimore Ravens player's death has no foul play involved as it has been ruled accidental.

The latest report comes after a person called emergency services in Northern Baltimore on the evening of June 21. Upon arriving at the scene, the athlete was unresponsive.

He was immediately pronounced dead on the scene even though medics gave him treatment.

The Baltimore Ravens team issued a statement after his passing, saying they are saddened by his shocking death.

"He was a kind, respectful young man with a big smile and infectious personality. We express our heartfelt condolences to Jaylon's family and friends as we mourn a life lost much too soon," they wrote.

The 26-year-old NFL star's agent, Safarrah Lawson, also released a statement, saying he was full of love and life, and the public will remember him not just as a linebacker but also as a "great father, son, brother, and friend.

A week before his sudden passing, he attended a training camp for his team while preparing for his fourth season with the Ravens.

His fellow linebacker, Patrick Queen, reacted to his death on social media, saying Ferguson was the last person he spoke to while leaving the facility.

"Spent almost everyday in the sauna together tryna see who gone last longer. Said it was our turn this year man. Ima miss you bro," he added.

The Louisiana native was a father to two children named Jyce and Jrea.

In a previous interview with Penn-Live Patriot News, he noted that his children were his motivation whenever he plays.

"On the field, I got people I can't let down. That's how I work. That's how I eat. And I've got my kids now, so I'm not going to let nothing stop me from eating," he added.

In early reports, the athlete was known to help people during tough times, like when his hometown of Ruston, Louisiana, experienced a shocking tornado.

He helped search and rescue teams by removing trees from the streets. He also gave out food and water to the natural disaster victims.
