Wendy Williams Disturbing State During Show's Final Years Revealed: Staff Found What?!
Wendy Williams' old show employees said that they had to continuously check on her to ensure she didn't become intoxicated before going on stage.
Everyone who worked with her witnessed "all kinds of things," according to several insiders who talked to The Hollywood Reporter.
One of them even claimed that things took a dramatic turn in 2017 when she fainted during the production of a Halloween episode.
"The Wendy Williams Show" employees said things began to unravel over the following four years, with one source indicating that during that time, producers sent more than 25 SMS expressing worry about the host's sobriety.
The messages were apparently delivered before the 10 a.m. recording, and executives had to determine if Wendy should even go live, despite often promising everyone that she was "fine."
Alternatively, if the program was filmed and shown later in the week, the show's executives would check it before it aired to ensure Wendy Williams didn't appear inebriated.
According to sources, one episode will be withdrawn in the spring of 2021.
Another reported that the team would "discover bottles of booze up in the ceiling tiles and other strange locations in the office."
It was also revealed that producers of "The Wendy Williams Show" attempted to calm down her former colleagues when the host failed to show up to work, but the strategy backfired when Wendy Williams arrived and made no sense.
According to sources close to the former radio DJ, the drama began after her health issues forced the September 2021 launch to be postponed.
Wendy's team was allegedly concerned after hearing about her condition in the press. Two of her show's executive producers traveled to her New York residence to arrange for a Zoom conference with her 100-person workforce.
The only reason they put up the call, according to then-manager Bernie Young, was that the employees had a lot of questions.
"So the thought was, 'Look, they haven't seen you or spoken to you, so let's do this for the employees and let everyone know where things are.'"
Wendy was said to be in excellent spirits when the producers arrived at 8 a.m., but things quickly changed. Wendy answered the phone at 10 a.m., but she didn't seem herself.
Wendy was described in the production report as being confused and unable to speak coherently.
Wendy Williams allegedly informed her colleagues that she was "very great," but the speech began to sound worse.
The show's producers then noticed the issues and abruptly ended the Zoom call, which had only lasted three minutes because "it wasn't pretty."
"People were a little scared. She was saying things like, 'Oh, I can't wait, I'll be back with you soon,' but anyone watching could tell she wasn't going to be back anytime soon."
