Mama June Slammed Online For Risking Marriage, Family By Refusing To Pay Honey Boo Boo $35K
June "Mama June" Shannon has no plans to pay back the money she owes her daughter Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson.
On Friday's episode of "Mama June: Family Crisis," Alana and her sister Lauryn "Pumpkin" Shannon planned to confront their mom about the former's Coogan account -- a trust where parents are required by law to deposit a percentage of the child's earnings for their protection. Alana and Lauryn did the calculations, and the latter told their mom she had spent $500,000 on crack, and they wanted her to pay Alana the missing $35,000 from her Coogan account.
"Alana is the reason you're Mama June, give her her money back and be a decent human being," Pumpkin told their mom, per People.
However, Shannon wanted her daughters to accept the situation by telling them, "There's nothing that I can do to change that."
Interestingly, June's husband, Justin Stroud, involved himself in the issue and encouraged Shannon to pay Alana and not start "World War III."
"This is what's gonna happen. You're gonna go to the bank in the morning [and] you're gonna take $30,000 or I'm leaving," Stroud told Shannon, seemingly giving her an ultimatum.
However, Shannon seemingly did not have the will to pay her youngest daughter, who only asked for the money so she could pay for college.
"You're willing to throw away our marriage for $30,000?" Stroud asked.
After seeing their mom's reaction, Lauryn admitted in her confessional that she was done with their mom and her lies.
"The fact that mom was willing to literally throw her entire marriage down the toilet, over the fact that she doesn't want to sign a check for money she took is freaking insane to me," Lauryn said.
"You know what Justin is more than welcome at my house. But Mama can get it together. I don't want a relationship there. I don't want to call you. I don't want to because you have said several times over and over again. I'm done with the lying. I've told you. I'm done. I'm sick of it. So I'm not going to, and I am done."
The episode quickly received several responses from viewers who also didn't approve of how Shannon handled the situation with her daughters. They were also not happy with how she responded to Stroud's call to keep their marriage. Many took to social media to slam the Shannon matriarch, with some wanting her out of the program and a number calling her a "thief."
"Mama June has a famous daughter, Alana, and June spent Alana's earnings because she's a selfish, reprehensible thief. (Best synopsis I could come up with," one commented.
"Hope Justin walks away from that monstrous thief that is June, Justin deserves better, and June isn't even close to anything decent," another added. "RUN JUSTIN, RUN!"
"I don't agree with disrespectin parents. But if [you are] a mom, like June, abandoned [your] kids, not been a mother, been on drugs, constantly chose a man over [your] kids, wrecklessly (sic) spendin money on men, drugs, & partyin. The disrespect is warranted & understood by these girls," a third person opined.
"Justin is a decent man, June doesn't DESERVE him. June STOLE Alana's money and spent it on herself, she doesn't understand that she's a THIEF," a fourth person said. "Everybody needs to cut June off, including Justin. Let her sit in the dirty diaper she created, thieves deserve solitude."
Meanwhile, a few still stood by Shannon even after seeing the episode. For them, Lauryn was being disrespectful to their mom during the confrontation. One even claimed they couldn't get rid of Shannon because she's important to the show. Some also disagreed that Shannon stole the money because she spent it on her children.
"Okay but without 'Mama June', what is the storyline? She [has] been their storyline for 3+ seasons now, like come on now, give it a rest," one wrote with laughing emojis.
"I kind of get [they're] mad at June, but the way they're talking to her is totally disrespectful. [They] need to cancel this show, and I also agree with June that she said she spent it on them by providing their lifestyle, so she really didn't steal it, in my opinion," another user said.
"I agree. That's why I barely tweet about the show because most don't see it this way. I love Pumpkin, but she is out of control, and Alana is starting to act the same way. And no, I'm not excusing June, but DAMN!!!" a third person opined.
"Mama June: Family Crisis" airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on WE tv.
