Shiloh Jolie-Pitt seems determined to officially drop her dad, Brad Pitt's family name, according to an insider.

Last week, Angelina Jolie and Pitt's eldest biological child filed to make her new name "Shiloh Jolie" official. A recent report has claimed that Shiloh paid for the legal move herself.

"Shiloh hired her own lawyer and paid for it herself, so Angie doesn't know and can't speak for it," a source close to the matter told Entertainment Tonight.

Shiloh just turned 18 on May 27, and she did the filing on the same day. However, the teenager had seemingly hinted about her plan to get rid of her father's name as she only used the name "Shi Jolie" on Instagram.

As the source claimed, Jolie wasn't aware of her daughter's plan. Thus, the "Salt" actress' alleged decision not to comment on the matter wasn't surprising.

In 2021, a different insider spoke with Us Weekly and said that her older brother, Maddox, who testified against their father, Pitt, during the custody battle, wanted to do the same amid their parents' legal dispute. However, the "Maleficent" actress reportedly didn't support his plan.

"Maddox has already given testimony as [an] adult in the ongoing custody dispute, and it wasn't very flattering toward Brad," the source told Us Weekly.

"He doesn't use Pitt as his last name on documents that aren't legal and instead uses Jolie. Maddox wants to legally change his last name to Jolie, which Angelina has said she doesn't support."

Shiloh's sisters, Zahara and Vivienne, had also made the same move. Vivienne dropped Pitt's family name in the playbill of the musical "The Outsiders," which Jolie produced. Vivienne served as a producer assistant and was only listed as "Vivienne Jolie" and not "Vivienne Jolie-Pitt."

In November 2023, Zahara joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at Spelman College. She introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie and skipped Pitt's surname, which many deemed was a shade to the "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" star.

"My name is Zahara Marley Jolie. And [I] landed all the way from the Golden State in the city full of angels: Los Angeles, California," Zahara said.

Although most of Jolie and Pitt's kids had dropped his family name, TMZ noted that only Shiloh seemed to have made the legal move to make it official.

Jolie and Pitt share six children -- Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 15-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. The former A-list Hollywood couple split in 2016 following an altercation aboard a plane from France to Los Angeles.
