Prince Harry's Stern Reaction To Prince Andrew's Scandal Resurfaces Amid Claims King Charles Threatened To Cut Off Duke Of York
Prince Harry was not pleased with his father King Charles' decision regarding his and his uncle Prince Andrew's security since the latter retained his protection despite being involved in a scandal.
An unnamed source recently claimed to The Times UK that the British monarch threatened to cut off his younger brotherif he would not move out of Royal Lodge and into Frogmore Cottage. The alleged rift between the two royal brothers brought up the Duke of Sussex's previous comment about his disgraced uncle. Prince Harry called the Duke of York's scandal "embarrassing" in his 2023 book "Spare."
"Despite being involved in an embarrassing scandal, accused of having sexually abused a young woman, nobody had suggested removing his security," Prince Harry wrote about his uncle, per the Mirror.

The outlet noted that the King funds Prince Andrew's security bill, which costs $3.8 million annually up to this time, even if he's no longer a working royal. Meanwhile, the Home Office -- the ministry responsible for policing immigration, security and law and order in England and Wales -- decided to remove Prince Harry's protection in February 2020 after he quit his royal duties.
The Duke of Sussex challenged the decision to remove his tax-funded protection in his home country. His lawyers argued that he was "singled out" and treated "less favorably."
However, in February, the court ruled that the decision to remove his security was justified and "not marred by procedural unfairness." Prince Harry's lawyer said that he would appeal.
"The Duke is not asking for preferential treatment, but for a fair and lawful application of RAVEC's own rules, ensuring that he receives the same consideration as others in accordance with RAVEC's own written policy," his spokesperson told CNN.
In April, Prince Harry faced another legal setback. His first attempt to appeal for his tax-funded security protection was rejected by the High Court. Instead, it advised him to seek permission directly from the Court of Appeal, per AP.
As for Prince Andrew's case, King Charles reportedly wanted him to move into Frogmore Cottage to cut security costs. However, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice's dad is showing no signs of moving out and seems to take longer than the desirable time to "recognize the reality of the situation."
"The King's kindness is not without limit and there is a very good option for Andrew to move into Frogmore Cottage, recently vacated by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which also has the benefit of being within the Windsor Castle security cordon, hence, reducing the need for alternative round-the-clock security for Royal Lodge," a source said.
