Brad Pitt is hurt that his daughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt wants to get rid of his last name, according to a source.

Several of Pitt's children have made it known that they want to get rid of his surname years after his split from their mom, Angelina Jolie. However, his eldest biological daughter is the first to reportedly file in court to make her new name "Shiloh Jolie" official, and the celebrity dad is "upset" about it.

"He's aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name," an unnamed source told People. "He's never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter."

The insider also claimed that the recent development reminded the "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" star about his relationship with his children. Although he is happy with his romance with his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, he is reportedly hurting over his strained relationship with his kids, and their distance "pains him."

"The reminders that he's lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It's very sad," the insider added.

Shiloh filed to drop her dad's surname on her 18th birthday on May 27. Per TMZ, the request has yet to be granted. Shiloh is the first in Jolie and Pitt's brood to make a legal move to drop Pitt's last name, even if several of her siblings have already done so in various ways.

Vivienne dropped their father's last name in the playbill of the musical "The Outsiders." Zahara also introduced herself as "Zahara Marley Jolie" when she joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at Spelman College in November.

Another source previously claimed to Us Weekly that Maddox "doesn't use Pitt as his last name on documents that aren't legal." He reportedly wanted to change his last name to only "Jolie," but the "Maleficent" actress wasn't supportive. However, in Shiloh's case, she reportedly hired and paid for her own lawyer.

"Shiloh hired her own lawyer and paid for it herself, so Angie doesn't know and can't speak for it," a source close to the matter told Entertainment Tonight.

Shiloh also dropped Pitt's surname on her Instagram account, using only "Shi Jolie" as her handle. However, another source claimed that she was not "trying to hurt her dad's feelings" by doing so.

"She has sympathy that he's estranged from some of her siblings, but she idolizes her mom and is just doing what feels comfortable," a source told Life & Style.
