Kate Middleton is on the road to recovery after sharing her cancer diagnosis, but things might change when she resumes her royal duties, according to a source.

The Princess of Wales has not carried any royal engagement since the Palace announced her abdominal surgery in January. Two months later, she announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer. An insider recently said Middleton's recovery is doing well, but she might not do the same activities when she resumes her royal duties.

"Kate's recovery is going well. She's not able to see many people because she is susceptible to getting sick, and they don't want her compromised, but she's up and about," an anonymous source told Us Weekly.

The source added Middleton's team is "reevaluating what she's going to be able to take on when she comes back."

"She may never come back in the role that people saw her in before," the insider said.

It's unclear what the changes will be, but the Duchess of Cambridge is very athletic, and she even serves as a patron of several sports, including All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, the Rugby Football League and the Rugby Football Union.

In late May, King Charles and Queen Camilla announced that the royal family would postpone some engagements after U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called for a surprise general election in July. The unexpected change is reportedly welcome for the Prince and Princess of Wales since it will give them more time to be together. The future king and queen have reportedly been "reconnecting and are closer than ever."

Another tipster who spoke to the outlet said she's been seen running errands with her family members in the past week. Middleton reportedly remains a hands-on mom to her and Prince William's three children -- Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

"Kate's feeling strong enough to be very involved with the kids," the insider said. "She's been an active parent."

Last week, Rebecca English, Daily Mail's royal editor, mentioned Middleton being "seen and about" with her family. It was reportedly taken as a "positive sign by many." However, several social media users were skeptical due to the lack of photos to support the purported public sightings.

"Where is 'out and about'? Are cameras banned in 'out and about'? #whereisKate #KateMiddleton," one user asked.

"So Kate Middleton is out and about but so ill that she isn't seen by anyone? No videos, no proof of life. Just [an] attempt at controlling the narrative. She is ill and surrounded by 'blood family' but also 'well and out and about.' Which is it? Catherine Princess of Wales," a different person said.
