Miley Cyrus got candid about the friendship she shares with Beyoncé in an interview.

Just recently, the "Party in the U.S.A." artist was interviewed by David Letterman to kick off the fifth season of Netflix's "My Guest Needs No Introduction." In the episode, the 31-year-old pop icon talked about Hollywood friendships.

"I'm not very active I would say or very a part of my community of other artists and entertainers and celebrities. It just doesn't feel like my people when I'm in that room, but there are certain artists like Beyoncé who -- like us we've known each other for a long time," she said.

"I've now, just from seeing her, I've created a relationship maybe a bit more in-depth -- we've never had this conversation -- so maybe you and I might be more friends than I'm friends with Beyoncé."

Recalling how their friendship started, Miley said, "When I was 15 I performed with Beyoncé. All the girls I was sandwiched between -- Rihanna and Queen Bey -- [were] fully grown up, gorgeous probably similar to my age now, towering over me, completely stunning and I'm like super small, have acne, have braces on the back of my teeth and I'm standing next to Mariah Carey who's dripping in diamonds and Bey was so kind to me."

She told Letterman that their friendship blossomed from the kindness the "Texas Hold 'Em" singer showed her during the "Stand Up 2 Cancer" telethon at the time.

"Kindness and consistency are everything... It's all quality not quantity," she added, talking about making friends in the industry.

Earlier this month, Miley also talked about her friendship with Queen Bey in an exclusive interview with W Magazine.

"Sometimes I forget to talk about things that are a normal part of my day-to-day, like texting with Beyoncé," she said, saying that there's a level of her life that's super "intimate, sacred and secret."

"I think it's a really cute part of our relationship because over the past couple of years, I've really locked down on my privacy and on what I share with the public. She's the same way. Part of our relationship is the safety between us."

"The songwriting or the work is just a small part of my relationship with her," she added.

In April, the two collaborated on the song "II Most Wanted."

"I wrote that song, like, two and a half years ago. My mom would always go, 'I love that song so much.' So when Beyoncé reached out to me about music, I thought of it right away because it really encompasses our relationship," she said, talking about how "II Most Wanted" ended up on "Cowboy Carter."

"Getting to write a song, not just sing, for Beyoncé was a dream come true."
