Prince William Had Savage Three-Word Response To Harry's Peace Offer
Prince Harry claims Prince William shot down his attempt to reconcile with a savage comment.
The Duke of Sussex and Prince of Wales were once close, but the brothers have been estranged since Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle quit their royal roles and moved to the U.S. in early 2020.
Prince Harry sharing details and making damaging claims about his family seemingly only worsened the rift between King Charles and Princess Diana's two sons.
In his 2023 memoir "Spare," Prince Harry alleged that Prince William gave a cold response when he tried to talk things out with his brother following his royal exit, The Mirror U.K. reported.
"You left, Harold," Prince William allegedly shot back, according to the book.
According to Prince Harry, he responded at the time: "Yeah, and you know why."
But Prince William allegedly replied, "I don't."
In his tome, the Duke of Sussex lamented how broken his relationship with his older brother had become.
"My beloved brother, my arch nemesis, how had that happened?" Prince Harry wrote. "I felt massively tired. I wanted to go home, and I realized what a complicated concept home had become."
Prince Harry and Prince William have not been photographed side-by-side since September 2022, when they reunited following the death of their grandmother Queen Elizabeth II.
They also both attended the queen's funeral and King Charles' coronation in 2023, but they were not seen in close proximity to each other at those events.
In November last year, an unnamed royal insider told Entertainment Tonight that Prince Harry and Prince William's relationship had "not improved" nine months after the release of "Spare."
"There is no real trust at the moment and that needs to be rebuilt," the source added. "There's a great deal of hurt on both sides."
Following the announcement of their father's and Kate Middleton's cancer diagnoses, some royal experts hoped that this would help pave the way for a reconciliation between William and Harry.
However, royal expert Katie Nicholl told ET earlier this month that the siblings' rift is far from healed and that relations between them are "at an all-time low."
