Serena Williams Accused Of 'Turning Into A White Lady': 'Leave Your Skin Alone'
Serena Williams is enjoying her vacation in Italy.
The former tennis player shared a clip of her recent trip to Milan on Instagram. In the video, she posed on a veranda with the Milan Cathedral or Duomo di Milano in the background. The former athlete and mom of two looked gorgeous in her black dress with long sleeves and thigh-high split. She let her curly hair down and carried a handbag to complete her look.
"Just a tourist in Milan," Williams wrote in the caption.
While many agreed that she looked beautiful, some social media users pointed out the alleged change in her skin tone. They claimed the athlete appeared lighter.
"Leave your skin alone," one commented with a face with tears emoji.
Another added, "Who's gunna [sic] tell her that she's turning into a white lady?"
"Or a drag queen," a third person chimed in.
"Always a hit n miss. Tomorrow, you gonna be looking like white chicks. Fire your team now!" a fourth person remarked.
"You should've left your face alone, it was beautiful," another said, suggesting a change in Williams' face.
Meanwhile, some were also quick to defend Williams. They said there was nothing wrong with her appearance except that she looked more fab by the day. Many also praised her and noticed her slimmer frame.
"I think it's good skin care and the fact that she's not in the sun playing as much!" one wrote, defending Williams from those who claimed she was no longer as dark as before.
"Stunning, Picture Perfect, Totally Awesome, I Like That," a second supporter added.
"Looking great and happy Serena," a third fan said.
"The slim down was real!! You look great!! Oh wait, You are great, GOAT!!" another said.
A different commenter wrote, "I loooooove this look."
Meanwhile, some wondered why others were being mean to Williams. "Why do people come in her page to leave unkind remarks? What is the psychology of that?" one asked.
Apparently, it wasn't the first time Williams' post on Instagram attracted tons of backlash. Last week, she shared a video of herself getting a radio frequency on her tummy. The former athlete said that after welcoming two babies, she had become conscious of her stomach, and she was thankful for her friends who suggested it and convinced her that "it's ok to take time for myself away from work and kids."
The post received mixed reactions, with some supporting her and others urging her to just embrace her new body after becoming a mom.
"I like this Serena however STOP touching, fixing, injecting your face," one commented.
