Serena Williams, Alexis Ohanian Divorce Rumors Heat Up; Suspected Of Posting 'Old' Date Photo
Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian have appeared in a new photo, but it seemingly did nothing to quell the rumors that their marriage is heading for divorce.
In recent weeks, rumors that Williams and Ohanian are experiencing marital issues have intensified, especially after the retired tennis champ failed to post about him on Father's Day.
But the Reddit co-founder seemingly debunked the divorce rumors by posting a photo with his wife for the first time in months.
In the snap shared on Instagram Friday, Williams and Ohanian sat side-by-side while grabbing a meal together.
The tennis icon smiled as she leaned toward her husband, whose wedding ring was captured in the photo.
Ohanian captioned the photo, "GM," or good morning.
While neither of the pair have addressed the speculation surrounding their marriage, fans of the couple suggested that the post was meant to be a subtle response to the rumors.
"It's the ring placement for me," one Instagram user commented on the photo.
Another claimed that the post was meant "for those who dare to doubt," adding: "Love this photo."
A third comment suggested that Ohanian was throwing "shade to the rumors."
"Shut the haters up @alexisohanian hahaha," another wrote. "I love it."
Another follower declared that it "makes zero sense" to "come after happy married couples who have robust lives and [a] beautiful family" like Williams and Ohanian.
Other users pointed out that Williams looked radiant in the new photo of her with her husband.
"Serena looking so soft!! She's in that era folks!!! Yassss!!!" one commenter wrote.
But for some, the photo failed to answer their questions about Williams and Ohanian's marriage and recent social media activity.
Some users noted that Ohanian remains absent from his wife's Instagram page and that Williams no longer follows him. A few also suggested that the photo may not be new.
"I didn't hear any rumors but if you go on her page she literally has no pics of him anymore on her page and she not following him, I saw that last week and was like that's weird. But also this pic could be old."
One user on X, formerly Twitter, claimed they've "been hearing lots of rumors Serena's marriage isn't going so great right now. Wouldn't be surprised about a divorce announcement at some point. She's escaped being markled for quite some time, maybe her luck is finally running out."
The couple -- who tied the knot in 2017 -- has been subjected to divorce rumors since fans began noticing earlier this year that Ohanian has been noticeably absent from Williams' side at events.
Williams also hasn't posted about her husband of nearly seven years on her Instagram since August 2023.
At the time, Williams shared a sweet family photo showing her and Ohanian with their two daughters, Alexis Olympia and Adira River.
Williams flashed a big smile at the camera while holding her then-newborn daughter Adira. Ohanian was also seen smiling at his wife, with one hand gently touching their baby's head.
Ohanian has also rarely posted about Williams on Instagram in the past months despite frequently sharing content featuring their kids.
Prior to the Friday photo, Williams last appeared on his page in May when Boardroom revealed that Ohanian "has been on a mission since 2019 to amass as many of his wife's rarest trading cards and collectibles as possible."
"It's ink on a dead tree. (But) if I'm married to Picasso, I'd want to own every Picasso I can. And I'd want to make sure my great-grandkids have all these Picassos. That's been my mindset for five or six years," Ohanian told Sportico at the time.
