Kate Middleton was not happy when her husband, Prince William, drove his scooter without a helmet, according to an insider.

The Prince of Wales has a lot of things on his plate as he needs to step up amid his father, King Charles' and his wife's cancer diagnoses. However, last week, he was spotted riding an electric scooter around Windsor Castle without a helmet, and the Princess of Wales was reportedly not happy about it.

"William is so busy -- he's exhausted all the time with everything he's got on his plate, so whizzing around on a scooter with no helmet is tempting fate," an unnamed insider told Closer.

"If he takes a fall, he could really hurt himself and the last thing anyone needs right now is for him to end up in the hospital. They have enough to deal with as it is. Kate does her best not to nag him, but she was not pleased to find out he had neglected to wear his helmet and now she's stressing about the worst-case scenario and demanding he always wears a helmet."

The royal mother of three was worried about her husband. She was reportedly "disappointed," but he assured her that there was nothing to worry about.

"William has reassured Kate that the scooter hardly gets going at any sort of speed, as far as he's concerned there's zero reason to worry. Kate was pretty disappointed that he'd be so reckless but trusts him to be more careful in the future," the source continued.

Enstarz could not independently verify the claim.

The outlet noted that Prince William purchased the electric scooter to make it more convenient for him to see his dad. He's reportedly "under such a time crunch that he has to zip around Buckingham Palace on an electric scooter, rather than walking, [which] gives a glimpse into how busy he is."

The heir apparent has previously spoken about his love for riding motorbikes but also that he had to put the hobby on the back burner due to his growing family.

"I'm a dad of three. I have to tone it down. I miss the big trips, for me biking was always about being with everybody else," he said in 2018.

Middleton is aware that her husband is still into riding. She admitted that she didn't want their son, Prince George, to pick up the same hobby.

"He's still riding it. It always fills me with horror when he goes out on it," Middleton said about Prince William's hobby. "I'm terrified. Hopefully, I'm going to keep George off it."
