Trump Believes Wife Melania 'Likes Me' Because She 'Can't Really Talk' About Assassination Attempt
Donald Trump says his attempted assassination continues to haunt his wife Melania Trump.
Trump and Melania have faced rumors about their relationship for years, with social media users and former aides alike speculating that their marriage is on the rocks.
However, Trump insisted in a new sit-down with Fox News' Laura Ingraham that Melania "loves" him based on her reaction to the July 13 assassination attempt that left him injured.
The former president and current GOP presidential nominee said on "The Ingraham Angle" that the ex-first lady "was watching" him giving a speech at his Pennsylvania rally live when 20-year-old gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks fired shots at him.

According to Trump, his wife believed "the worst had happened" because of how Secret Service agents converged to cover him immediately after he was shot in the ear.
While his injury appears to have since healed, Trump claimed that more than two weeks later, Melania is still unable to talk about the deadly shooting -- which the ex-POTUS interpreted as a sign of affection for him.
"She can't even really talk about it. That's OK, that means she likes me -- she loves me. She could talk about it freely, I'm not so sure which is better. She either likes or loves me, that's nice," Trump told Ingraham.
The July 13 assassination attempt on Trump left one attendee dead and two others seriously injured.
The shooter was shot and killed by the Secret Service.
A day after the shooting, Melania released a statement condemning the perpetrator and expressing her fear over nearly losing her husband of nearly 20 years.
"A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to ring out Donald's passion -- his laughter, ingenuity, love of music, and inspiration," read the statement shared via X, formerly Twitter.
"The core facets of my husband's life -- his human side -- were buried below the political machine," the letter continued. "Donald, the generous and caring man who I have been with through the best of times and the worst of times."
Melania, who has largely steered clear of the campaign trail since Trump launched his most recent White House bid, also made a rare public appearance earlier this month.
She joined the rest of the Trump family in supporting the presidential candidate at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
A photo from the event captured Trump and Melania sweetly holding hands backstage at the Fiserv Forum before he was set to give his speech on stage.
