Brad Pitt's Lookalike Daughter Shiloh Steps Out Barefaced, 'Downcast' After Court Hearing Setback
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's daughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt stepped out in Los Angeles this week after her fight to officially drop her dad's last name hit a roadblock.
Shiloh was photographed looking "downcast" as she visited a pal in L.A., according to In Touch Weekly.
In a photo obtained by the outlet, the 18-year-old appeared barefaced and used a comb headband to push back her short blonde hair into spikes.
Shiloh dressed for comfort in a black hoodie, matching loose pants and colorful sneakers.
Shiloh's sighting came a few days after the postponement of a hearing for her petition to drop her father's surname.
The hearing originally scheduled for Monday was set to decide whether or not the famous teenager would be allowed to legally change her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.
However, an unnamed source told Page Six that the hearing has been pushed back by two weeks "because the court did not correctly finish the necessary background check."
Addressing the delay, Peter Levine, Shiloh's lawyer, said in a statement to the outlet: "Unfortunately, the court was unable to complete the background check ahead of today's hearing, so the hearing was rescheduled for August 19."
"This is normal," the attorney added. "Everyone undergoing a name-change request needs to have a background check conducted by the court clerk, and because of clerical error, Shiloh's hearing has been continued to a new date."
Pitt and Jolie's eldest biological child filed to officially remove her dad's surname when she turned 18 in May.
Shiloh made it clear in June that she was determined to see this through by publishing a notice in the Los Angeles Times to announce her plan to drop "Pitt" from her name, Page Six reported, citing court documents.
Changing one's name in California requires publishing the request in "a newspaper of general circulation that publishes legal notices" in one's county.
An unnamed source told Us Weekly that Pitt was "devastated" by Shiloh's move to drop his last name and viewed it as "a symbol of a deeper estrangement that has been brewing for years."
