Teen Wolf's season 3B is heading down a dark path, and it's dragging Stiles along with it.

Following the events of last summer's "Alpha Pact," Beacon Hill's golden trio began to experience troubling hallucinations. While Stiles (Dylan O'Brien) lost his ability to distinguish his waking world from his nightmares, Allison (Crystal Reed) found herself unable to properly loose an arrow, and Scott (Tyler Posey) was having difficulty controlling his transformations. Although the teens appeared to get matters under control during "More Bad Than Good," Max Carver (Aidan) recently revealed that all is not well.

"I'm going to go ahead and say they got a little more than their mojo back, and I don't mean that in the best way," Max said on MTV's Wolf Watch. "Even though it may appear that they are getting some semblance of being normal again, there's a whole new world."

The new addition of several mysterious masked figures will do little to improve matters, and O'Brien has stated that his character will become ever more concerned that he may truly be loosing his mind.

"It gets worse, for each of us," O'Brien told Collider. "There literally becomes a point where Stiles is going to check himself into a mental hospital. It's that bad. We finally pinpoint what's going on mid-season, but then that just brings on a whole other bag of problems, like how it usually goes on our show."

Despite the intense and dramatic overtones of the current season, the 22-year-old actor is determined to keep his character's comedic edge.

"That's one of my main challenges. I never want to lose that essence of the character that I built a foundation on and that I love so much. I get all these tormenting storylines, and I just try to figure it out. Clearly, that changes a person, but I refuse to toss Stiles away, at all. My job then becomes about balancing and trying to blend the humor and the comedy with the horrible, daunting, crazy stuff that's going on," O'Brien said, according to Collider. "I want him to have that confident energy about him. I love that. I also love that people have every layer possible in them, too."

Fans can catch Stiles in a new sneak peek of next week's "Illuminated" (see video below), and on Teen Wolf Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.
