In just a couple of weeks, FX will premiere its new series Fargo, a television adaptation of the 1996 movie of the same name, originally created by directorial brothers Joel and Ethan Coen. Is the show anticipated to live up to the crime thriller film's legacy, though?

Reportedly, the writer, executive producer, and showrunner for the dark comedy anthology, Nick Hawley, has guaranteed that the show will all-around be much like a motion-picture experience. Thursday, Hypable revealed that while Hawley claimed, "We are in a Coen brothers universe," he still enthusiastically explained the premise for his show, which revolves around what happens when a civilized man and a particularly uncivilized man meet.

He dished, "This show is about what happens when a civilized man meets a very uncivilized man. It was our hope that we would create a cast that was a movie cast and not a television cast." Apparently, he may have accomplished just that, with a bill of actors including the likes of Angelina Jolie's ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton, and Tom Hanks' son, Colin Hanks. Moreover, Hawley also reaffirmed the idea that he is going for a cinematic feel in this television series stating, "We're making a 10-hour movie."

Billy Bob Thornton to Star in FX's 'Fargo'

The Coen brothers won't be writing this script, but purportedly the show will be in keeping with the quality and nature of their classic, although it will further explore a storyline similar to that which couldn't be fully included in the movie. Tune in to the FX premiere on Tuesday, April 15 at 10 p.m. to check out the 10-episode limited series, and catch a sneak peek of what can be expected, below:
