As a Fargo character in their Minnesota accent would say, "Oh geez!" The April 15 debut of the new FX series is getting closer, and while anticipation for it is growing more and more, how well is it expected to stack up to the movie original?

The original Fargo is a crime drama film from 1996, which was written, produced, edited, and directed by the Academy Award winning Coen brothers, Joel and Ethan. Noah Hawley's new dark comedy-drama series of the same name is a television adaptation of the movie.

Next Tuesday, the FX television network will premiere a 10-episode limited series of Fargo, and according to the Huffington Post, it "has been a bit of a mysterious thing since it was first announced by the network." Like the movie, the show will deal with an easygoing salesman, criminals, and local cops, set in a small Minnesota town.

However, apparently it is still unclear whether the show will be a prequel to the movie, a sequel, or a story all of its own. Likewise, while Hawley, the writer and showrunner for the series, said that it will be more like a ten-hour movie, star Colin Hanks agreed stating, "It's not like a normal TV show... It's all new characters, it's all new story. But the way that it intersects with the film, it just expands this incredibly rich universe."

Sounds like viewers will definitely be in for one heck of a show! Check out an official promo video here:
