Breakfast Club Interview 2014; Tank Talks New Album 'Stronger', Baby Boy on The Way and Marriage with Charlamagne, Angela and DJ Envy [VIDEO]
Tank is back with his new album, "Stronger U." The R&B veteran is going to start touring at the end of this week, and is making a few press stops while he is on the east coast to check in with his fans from NYC to NC.
He stopped by "The World's Most Dangerous Morning Show", The Breakfast Club, to discuss his new album, new baby, marriage, his new artist, and more! As usual, Angela Yee, Charlamagne tha God and DJ Envy got their interviewee to be very honest.
Here's what we learned:
1. He went from singing in church to singing back up for Ginuwine, and things have never been the same. Before Tank became "Tank," he was choir-singing Durrell Babbs. He still finds it “unreal” that he’s in a group with his former boss.
2. Tank has 5 kids. Yes, well 4 and one more on the way with his fiancée Zena Foster. He admits that in the past, he wasn’t the best significant other, but now all of his kids and family members get along.
3. He made “Shots Fired” to see if the radio would support him when he didn’t sing at all. His hit club smash featuring Chris Brown was created out of pure curiosity, and radio ate it up according to him.
4. In TGT, Tyrese got the most money. Tank respects Tyrese, and says that he enjoyed being in a group “once the logistics were worked out.”
5. He started helping “Sisterhood of Hip Hop” rapper Siya when she was sleeping on floors. The two met in the past and reconnected on Twitter. One phone call and the rest was history. He now supports her, financially.
6. He feels the world is ready for its’ first lesbian rapper. Siya is out and proud, she and her girlfriend Amber are featured on the show (which airs every Tuesday night on Oxygen).
7. He’s back into movies. He’s working on a new movie with Queen Latifah, and doesn’t want acting advice from Tyrese.
8. According to Tank, marriage is an understanding of two people more than its’ societal standards. A little different from his R&B persona, ehh? He thinks men are not meant to be monogamous, and woman are. side eyeeee
9. But, he can forgive a woman for “stepping out.” Or so he says………
