The America’s Got Talent host signed on for multiple episodes on the comedy series, Fox announced on Tuesday.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 34-year-old will star as Marcus, Captain Holt’s (Andre Braugher) “charming and educated” nephew.
Marcus, who just moved to Brooklyn, will stay with his uncle until he finds his own apartment. Cannon’s character will make his first appearance in December.
Cannon joins the list of big stars who appear on the show this season. Other stars include The Closer's Kyra Sedgwick, who currently plays Holt's enemy, comedian Craig Robinson, former Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria, as well as The King of Queens actor Patton Oswalt.
Currently in its second season, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has already been recognized for its humor. The show won the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series in Comedy or Musical this year. Cast member Andy Samberg also received the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series for Comedy or Musical.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which also stars Terry Crews and Stephanie Beatriz, airs Sundays at 8:30 p.m. on Fox.
