'Shadowhunters' TV Show: Edgy & Sexy, Cassandra Clare Compares Series To 'True Blood' [VIDEO]
If you saw The Mortal Instruments, don't think you know what's coming in Shadowhunters.
The ABC Family series will become the second adaptation of Cassandra Clare's supernatural series, and the author recently informed viewers that the 2016 show will not only expand the story to include all those characters that were left of out the original film (book readers rejoice!), but it will also take the danger and the romance to a whole new level.
"I think that the television show is going to take a really, really different approach than the movie. It's much older, it's a little edgier, they're doing a lot to sort of push the envelope on what you can do," Clare explained, according to Red Carpet News TV. "I saw what they call the 'sizzle reel,' which is where they clip together what they feel is the most exciting kind of scenes, and...it looked more to me like 'True Blood' than I was expecting. I was like, 'This is very sexy business.'"
'Shadowhunters' TV Series: Heartbreak & Death Coming, 'No One Is Safe'
For those who have seen the cast in action via photos and short clips, it's not hard to see what Clare is referring to. From the fight training to certain actresses' skimpy clothing, the TV series is operating on a different plane than its predecessor.
