Power Finally Shifts in the 'Big Brother 17' House
When the live feeds turned back on after Thursday night's episode, it became clear that Becky was running away with the competition. While people like Jackie and Julia were in contention, Becky was able to outperform all of them and won the $5,000, the No Have-Not pass and HOH for the week.
Becky is a player that has floated to both sides of the house throughout the game, but now she is being forced to choose a side. Well over the past week she has gotten a lot closer to the After Dark Crew, a.k.a. Jackie, James and Meg, and now she is choosing to stick by them.
As plans began for who Becky would nominate for eviction, she talked extensively with the ADC about how Vanessa needs to go since she is essentially running the show. The ADC had talked about their regrets over not putting up Vanessa this past week so they were fully on board with Becky's plan.
For now, Becky will nominate Shelli and Steve with Vanessa as a backdoor target. And she will have the votes to control who goes home, since Jackie, James, Meg and her other close ally John will vote however she wants them to vote (most likely for Vanessa). Only four votes are needed to force a tie, so presuming Austin, Julia, Liz and Shelli/Steve vote to keep Vanessa, Becky would have the power to break the tie and send Vanessa home.
Vanessa tried on several occasions throughout the night to make a deal with Becky but the reigning HOH outright refused to make one. This was baffling to Vanessa, who spent the rest of the night paranoid that she was being made a backdoor target.
Becky has told her plan to the ADC plus John, Shelli and Steve. So far none of them have told Vanessa about the plan, though it's possible that Shelli could inform her at some point.
For now it's going to come down to the Power of Veto. Assuming Vanessa doesn't outright with the Veto, she will probably be going up and going home unless plans change radically.
Big Brother 17 returns for a new episode Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. The episode will feature footage from the HOH competition plus the Nomination ceremony.
