A whole slew of details about FX's American Horror Story: Hotel were released today, including Lady Gaga's character, the setting and the overall tone of the season.

American Horror Story boss Ryan Murphy and several cast members appeared at TCA Summer Press Tour Friday to reveal new info regarding American Horror Story: Hotel. The new season will take place in downtown Los Angeles and features a group of very colorful characters.

Gaga will play Elizabeth, the owner of the titular hotel. According to Murphy, Elizabeth is a "very wealthy social doyenne who is consumed with art and fashion and people and she has a nefarious plan that is revealed in the first episode and plays out over the course of the season."

Murphy also said that Gaga's character will have relationships with Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson and Angela Bassett's characters.

Finn Wittrock plays Tristan Duffy, a model who "finds the biggest high in Lady Gaga [her character] and they have a lot to do together."

Denis O'Hare says he is playing a character named Elizabeth Taylor, who is obsessed with the famous actress of the same name.

"I'm not actually playing the person but someone inspired by her awesomeness," O'Hare said. The character is taken by the actress' performances in such films as Cleopatra and Butterfield 8 and essentially emulates her. "I shaved my head -- and other body parts -- for the part." It is not known if O'Hare's character identifies as a man, a woman or somewhere in between.

Bates' character Iris is the hotel manager. "I have relationships with Matt Bomer and Wes [Bentley] and I can't stand [Sarah] Paulson [her character]; I hate you," Bates said. "Liz Taylor and I have a very close relationship."

Paulson plays Hypodermic Sally, a resident in the hotel who "hates Iris in a rather ancient way for reasons that will be revealed quickly," Paulson said. She describes her character as "dark, sexy" and a "drug addict."

Bassett is set to play Ramona Royale, an actress who has a "real nasty relationship" with Elizabeth and Tristan. She is a frequent guest at the hotel.

Bomer will be playing Donovan, an inhabitant at the hotel who "has very interesting relationships with the lady folk in his life," according to the actor himself.

Jackson will play Will Drake, a "fashion icon" who moves from New York to Los Angeles. He is "a father, a little desperate," according to Jackson.

Bentley is set to play Detective John Lowe, who is investigating a series of murders which ultimately leads to him checking into the hotel.

Chloë Sevigny plays Detective Lowe's wife, Alex Lowe, a mother and doctor who is dealing with "a great loss."

As for the overall feeling of Hotel, Murphy said that it is similar to season 1, a.k.a. Murder House.

"This season harkens back to the first season and is much more rooted in the honest, primal fears as the first season was," he noted.

With filming beginning within the last few weeks, hopefully we will get a trailer to see all these dark and twisty characters in the flesh.

American Horror Story: Hotel premieres Wednesday, Oct. 7 on FX.
