Fans who were hoping the return of several long-gone characters on The Bold and the Beautiful would pave the way for a return of a fan favorite who left last year are set to be thoroughly disappointed.

In an Instagram post on August 6, Kim Matula, who portrayed Hope Logan on the soap until December 2014, when her character left for Italy following a miscarriage, told fans that while she loved hearing how much they all missed her, she wouldn't be coming back to the show for a while.

"TBT to that time Hope took a tumble #theboldandthebeautiful," she captioned a photo of herself in character with a cut on her forehead, bruises under her eyes and wearing a hospital gown. "I know a lot of you are asking and I hate being the bearer of bad news, but Hope will not be returning at the moment. I'm still exploring another side of life! However, it truly means a lot that you miss her so much! Thank you."

Matula's post came one day after her former co-star, Katherine Kelly Lang, who portrayed her on-screen mother Brooke, did a Q&A on Twitter with fans, where she expressed how much she missed working with Matula and hoped she would eventually come back.

"Yes!!! Would love to see her back here! #BoldandBeautiful," Lang replied to a tweet asking her if she missed Matula.

Speculation has run rampant several times since Matula's departure that her character would eventually come back. Initial rumors had her coming back for Aly Forrester's funeral, which didn't happen. Others wondered if she was going to be back to break up Liam (Scott Clifton) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) following the two officially rekindling their romance-which also didn't happen.

She is also currently absent from her brother Rick's (Jacob Young) wedding to Maya (Karla Mosley).

Matula chose not to renew her contract last year, prompting her character's exit. She did appear briefly in 2 episodes in early April via a video chat.

The Bold and the Beautiful airs Monday-Friday at 1:30 p.m. on CBS.
